Mobile hits and subscriptions: the key of Electronic Arts’ revenue grows

SimCity reported strong performance
SimCity BuildIt debuted on Apple (AAPL) iOS and Google (GOOGL) Android in December 2014. The game has achieved 22 million downloads up to January 2015, as EA reported. In its earnings release, EA stated that it was one of the top five most downloaded games in more than 100 different countries.
Free-to-play model led to increase in gamers
On the mobile platform, EA’s games—like FIFA, Madden, and NHL—were well received. In 2014, the company shifted to a free-to-play model for the above-mentioned games, which helped these games attract more players.
In the mobile sub-segment in 3Q15, Madden NFL Mobile and FIFA 15 Ultimate Team combined reported 45% more monthly active players than the previous versions of these games had in 3Q14.
AS a result, Electronic Arts’ revenue grows on mobile hits and subscriptions, which means the importance of mobile platform market.
